Screen printer emulsion is a useful tool in order to make great images and text with fine detail, which you can use for making your own design on clothing, fabric, paper and other surfaces. After you stretch the cloth on the frame, spread a thin coat of screen printer emulsion on the screen and leave it to dry. Then, take the black image on translucent or transparent surface, put it against the screen and expose it to the light to bind the emulsion to the material and make it hard. The area where the light hits will make the emulsion a solid layer and the emulsion stays water-soluble in the areas where the light is blocked.

After you expose the screen to the light, you can spray water on the screen to wash off the emulsion in areas where you placed the image. Remember that this area is the place where the ink is pressed on the screen as you print. Lastly, lay the screen on the material, spread the ink on the screen and press the ink through the screen. For textile ink, it is possible to heat-set the ink after drying, as it is washable and permanent.

Screen printer emulsion is a paste substance that dries up in the form of a photographic film type when spread on a mesh. When the photosensitive emulsion is exposed to light, it produces a pattern of the artwork. The pattern creates a positive where ink passes through.
